CMU Annual Lunar Gala Fashion Show 2019
Re:born is a fashion line designed for the 2019 Lunar Gala fashion show at Carnegie Mellon University. Lunar Gala is an annual student-run fashion show, with more than 1200 tickets sold every year.
This line is inspired by the documentary, The True Cost. Fast fashion industry comes with great cost, polluting our environment, producing around 11 million tons of landfill per year in America alone.
Through collaborating with local designers, Re:born tries to design fashion in the most sustainable way. This line will use fabric scraps collected from fashion designers to explore the beauty in asymmetry and emphasize the uniqueness of each piece, focusing on the different quality of textile. The intention of this line is to bring awareness to the destruction fashion industry causes, and the potential of wasted fabric.
